About James Jones

James R. Jones is a native Alaskan sculptor and artist who uses materials found in the wilds of Alaska in his art, as well as bronze.  He was born and raised in Arctic Alaska, and goes by his Inupiaq name, Naulaq.  His full name is Anaulaqtuq. 

He grew up hunting and providing with his mother, father, seven brothers, three sisters, and surrounding relatives.  His carving and crafting skills and his knowledge of the Arctic environment have developed through his life experiences in the Arctic. 

Today, his work is widely acclaimed and has won him many awards, as well as the respect of the artistic community.
